Privacy policy

Tidybite runs in your browser. Here is exactly what it stores, what it never collects, and why it asks for each permission.

Effective 28 October 2026
Stays in your browserYour lists, settings and history are never sent to us.
No trackingNo analytics, no ads, and we never sell data.
Pro onlyOnly your email, your Pro purchase and basic anti-abuse records are kept on our server.

The short version

Tidybite is a browser extension that deletes cookies and site data. It runs in your browser. It does not collect, sell or share your browsing data, and it has no analytics or advertising. The only time anything leaves your browser is for Tidybite Pro: to start a trial, buy or restore Pro, and to check that it is active. Payments are handled by Stripe.

Tidybite is made by Dev Persaud, an individual developer in Japan ("we", "us"). Questions: support@tidybite.app.

What stays in your browser

Tidybite stores the following only in your browser's extension storage. It is never sent to us:

  • Your settings and your kept-site rules.
  • The cleanup log: which sites were cleaned, when, and the names of the cookies removed. You can turn the log off or clear it.
  • Counters, such as how many cookies were deleted and how many cookie banners were rejected.
  • For Pro features: which sites signed you out and which sites Smart Keep kept, so it can suggest or keep them and let you undo.

To decide what to delete, Tidybite reads the addresses of your open tabs and the cookies and site data stored for those sites. It does this on your computer and does not record or transmit your browsing history.

Pro features

  • Smart Keep notices on your computer when a password is submitted on a site. It never reads, stores or sends your password, user name or anything else you type. Only the fact that a sign-in happened is used, to keep that site.
  • Cookie-banner rejection uses rules that ship inside the extension. Tidybite clicks the reject option on the page; nothing about the page is sent anywhere.
  • Sync, if you turn it on, stores your kept-site list in your browser account's own sync storage (for example, your Google account in Chrome). It is synced by your browser, under your browser provider's privacy policy, and never through our servers.

Tidybite Pro and payments

Tidybite Pro runs on our own server at tidybite.app, hosted by Cloudflare. Payments are processed by Stripe.

  • Install key. When you first start a trial, buy or restore Pro, Tidybite creates a random key for your installation and keeps it in your browser's sync storage. It contains no personal information. Tidybite sends it to our server to check whether Pro is active.
  • Your email. To start a free trial or restore a purchase, you type your email in Tidybite. We send you a 6-digit code from support@tidybite.app through our email provider, Resend, along with the country the request came from. When you type the code into Tidybite, your email is linked to that browser's install key. We keep your email, when your trial started and your plan, and use them only to provide Pro, send the emails you ask for, and handle support and refunds. We never send marketing email.
  • Payments. You enter your card on Stripe's checkout page. We never see your full card details. Stripe tells our server which plan you bought, and we keep your Stripe customer number to let you manage or cancel your subscription.
  • Abuse protection. To stop the email form, checkout and free trials being misused, our server counts requests per email address and per network (your IP address, or the first half of an IPv6 address) and deletes those counts after 2 days. For each free trial it also keeps the network it was started from, to limit how many trials one network can start.
  • Stripe's checkout and subscription pages follow Stripe's own privacy policy.

Why Tidybite asks for each permission

  • Read and change data on all websites: to see and delete each site's cookies and site data, and to run the cookie-banner and Smart Keep helpers on pages. Page content is not collected or sent.
  • Cookies and browsing data: to delete cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, cache and service workers.
  • Tabs and web navigation: to know which sites are open, so open sites are never cleaned, to show the current site in the popup, and for Smart Keep to notice when a site you keep moves to a new address.
  • Storage: to save your settings and lists in your browser.
  • Alarms: to run a cleanup a few seconds after you close a tab.
  • Notifications: to tell you about cleanups (if you turn that on) and what Smart Keep kept.
  • Context menus: for the right-click options to keep or clean a site.
  • Scripting: to run the cookie-banner helper on pages.

This website

tidybite.app sets no cookies and loads no trackers, analytics or third-party fonts. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Tidybite's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell user data, use it for advertising, or transfer it for purposes unrelated to Tidybite's single purpose of cleaning cookies and site data.

Keeping and deleting your data

Everything Tidybite stores in your browser is removed when you uninstall it, or when you use "Reset" in Tidybite's settings. We keep your Pro account (email, trial, plan, and the network a trial was started from) while you use Pro. To have it deleted, or to get a copy, email support@tidybite.app. Payment records must be kept for tax and accounting purposes as required by law.

Children

Tidybite is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be announced in the extension.
